ONE- In a large saute pan, heat 1 1/2 tsp oi l on medium-high. Add chicken and saute, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through, about 8 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
TWO- Reduce heat to medium and add remaining 1 1/2 tsp oil. Add onion and saute, stirring frequently, until softened, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in curry powder and cumin and saute for 1 minute. Add apple and pear and saute, stirring occasionally, for 4 minutes.
THREE- Stir in broth, salt, pepper and chicken and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until apple and pear are tender, about 8 minutes. Stir in milk and , if desired, currants, and heat through.
