(1) Heat oven to 350 degrees. (2) Cut off tops of bell peppers - just enough to remove stem, discard seeds & membranes. Chop enough of the tops to make 1/4 - 1/2 cup, set aside. Place water in a large pan and bring to boil - cook bell peppers uncovered in water for about 5 minutes; remove & invert to drain well. Sprinkle insides lightly with salt. In a skillet, cook ground beef,pork or sausage, onion and chopped bell pepper until meats are browned & vegetables are tender. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder & crushed red pepper, to taste. Add undrained tomatoes, rice & Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover & simmer 15-18 minutes. Stir in American cheese. Please bell peppers in a baking dish lined with aluminum foil. Stuff peppers with mixture & top with shredded cheddar cheese. Baked covered for 30 minutes.
