In a lg. nonstick skillet, cook onions in butter over med.-low heat for 30 min. or until very tender. Meanwhile, line unpricked pastry shell with a double thickness of heavy duty foil.
Bake at 450 degrees for 6 min. Remove foil; cool on a wire rack. REduce heat to 425 degrees.
Spoon onions into pastry shell. In a sm. bowl, whisk the egg substitute, milk, salt, & pepper; pour over onions. Bake for 20-25 min. or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5-10 min. before cutting.
