In a bowl season the chicken chunks and sprinkle
the mixed spice and mix well.
In a casserole or pot fry the onions in some oil
and when transparent add the chicken and fry .
When chicken is sealed add the carrots ,garlic and
mushrooms.
Fry a bit then add the barbecue sauce and stir in
mixture.
Pour in the water and add the chickpeas, season
according to taste.
Arrange the potatoes in layers on top,season each
layer .
Now you can either cover with the casserole cover
or foil and put in a medium hot oven or you can
cover the pot and once it starts to boil you put
on low heat and let it simmer until the potatoes
are done. If you prefer you can then uncover
casserole so the potatoes get crisp.
