Topping- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in 8 in square pan or 9 in round pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Arrange fruit over brown sugar.
Cake- Mix Bisquick, sugar. Add shortening, egg, 1/4 cup milk. Beat vigorously 1 minute. Stir in gradually remaining milk, vanilla. Beat 1/2 minute. Pour over fruit. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Invert immediately on serving plate. Leave pan over cake a minute. Serve warm with plain or whipped cream.
