Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix butter, shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, orange zest and orange extract.
In a separate bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add and beat slowly into wet mixture. Finally, add the oats and mix together.
Plop 1 inch dollops onto a cookie sheet, about 3 inches apart. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool before eating.
The cookies will be a little puffy when you take them out of the oven, but they flatten and get crispy after they get cool.
Drizzle with melted chocolate if desired. Yes do this!
