Cook the noodles acccording to package instructions. Drain.
In a skillet, melt the butter and saute the cabbage until tender. In a 2 to 3 quart buttered casserole dish, lace a layer of half the noodles, then half the cabbage, then all of the ham. Then layer rest of cabbage and noodles on top.
Scald the milk and slowly add to the beaten eggs, beating constantly. Add salt and pepper and beat well.
Pour over casserole layers and bake at 350 about 1 hour or until a knife comes out clean.
