Mix strawberries with sugar and cornstarch
until well coated and place into greased 20cm(8
inch) square baking dish. Heat oven to 400
degree C (200F). Blend butter,egg and
sugar,sift flour with baking powder and salt
stir into butter mixture until batter is smooth
and thick.
Drop batter by spoonful over berries, spreading
slightly. Scatter almonds over batter, berries
will be visible between dough. Bake for 35
minutes or until batter is slightly browned and
strawberries are bubbly. Serve warm with
vanilla ice cream if desired.
