Put cereal in a large mixing bowl. In a medium sauce pan melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over chex cereal and stir until cereal is coated well.
Put coated cereal in a large Ziploc bag with powdered sugar. Shake until cereal is coated well. Spread mixture over waxed paper and allow to cool.
Store in a ziplock bag or an airtight container.
