2 Cups Dates, chopped

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
|

1 Cup Hot Water
|
|
1 Tablespoon Butter
|

1 Egg
|

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 cup Sugar
|
|
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
|
|

1 1/4 Cups Flour
|
|
English Walnuts, as desired
|

Instructions |
|
|
Mix together the dates, baking soda and hot water.
Let stand while other ingredients are being mixed.
|
|
|
Mix all and beat well- butter, egg, sugar, vanilla extract, salt.
Add the date mixture and stir well.
|
|
|
Add flour and walnuts to the wet mixture and stir together until well blended.
Turn into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
|
|
|
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
