Preheat oven to 350F. Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Melt
butter in saucepan and add cocoa. Add the boiling water and
allow the mixture to boil for 30 seconds. Pour over flour
mixture and stir to lightly cool.
Add buttermilk, eggs and baking soda, and vanilla and mix
well. Pour batter into 13x18 sheet cake pan. Bake for 20
minutes.
To make icing melt butter in a saucepan. Add cocoa and stir
to combine. Turn off heat. Add the milk, vanilla, and icing
sugar. Stir together. Add the nuts if using. Stir together and
pour over warm cake. Yum!
