Meat options, thinly sliced steak, chicken, or shrimp
6 cups beef, chicken or vegetable broth -or- pho broth
2 tsp Chinese Five Spice (more to taste if desired)
8 oz. rice stick noodles
Green onion, chopped
Fresh mung bean sproutes
Red onion, thinly sliced
Fresh cilantro
Thai basil (or regular basil if you can't find Thai)
Fresh jalapenos, sliced
Lime wedges
Hoisin
Sriracha
Soy sauce
Instructions
Heat the broth in a medium pot, add the Chinese
five spice seasoning unless you're using pho
broth, then just heat and bring to a boil. Simmer
while you prepare the rest of the ingredients. Add
the chopped green onions.
In another pot, boil the noodles in water
according to the package instructions. Drain and
rinse, then set aside.
Prep the rest of the fresh ingredients. Prepare
garnish plates for each person, with- bean
sprouts, red onion, Thai basil, cilantro, jalapeno
slices, lime wedges.
Put a pile of rice noodles in a bowl and the meat
of choice on top. Pour the broth over top. Serve
with garnish plates. Also, serve with hoisin
sauce, soy sauce and sriracha.
