Cover peaches with 1 cup sugar and let stand while other ingredients are being prepared.

Mix remaining sugar, flour, salt, baking powder and milk.
|
|
|
Melt stick of margarine in a good sized baking dish. Pour batter into baking dish on top of melted butter. Then put sliced peaches on top of mixture. DO NOT STIR. The butter will come to the top of the pie when it is baked.

|
|
Bake in a moderate oven about 1 hour.
