Cut vanilla beans in half lengthwise stopping short about 1-inch from
end.

Put vanilla beans, vodka, and rum into a jar and keep in a dark place
or put in a large paper sack to keep light from entering jar.

Let sit for 8 weeks. About once a week, jostle jar a bit to stir up
beans.
|
|
|
At end of 8 weeks, insert 1-2 vanilla beans in each jar and fill
bottles. Jar can be refilled with vodka when half full. Continue
doing this until dark color is gone, then make a new batch.
