Cook beans in boiling salted water to cover over medium-high heat 4 minutes or until crisp-tender, drain. Plunge into ice water to stop cooking process; and set aside.

Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-low heat until crisp; remove bacon, and drain on paper towels, reserve a little of drippings in skillet. Discard remaining drippings. Crumble bacon.

Saut'e mushrooms and shallots in hot drippings over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until shallots are tender. Add green beans and crushed red pepper (I don't use pepper) and saut'e 1 to 2 munutes or until heated. Stir in crumbled bacon,1/2 tsp. black pepper, and 1/4 tsp. salt.

I have made this ahead of time and warmed it in a casserole in the oven until heated-not to long..I also use mixed mushrooms with the shitakes because the shitake mushrooms are very expensive.
