Mix milk and cocoa powder. Put over low heat and add butter, stirring until all is melted and mixture begins to boil. Set aside and let it cool slightly
Put chocolate mixture in a large bowl. Add 1/2 powdered sugar and mix. Continue adding pwdered sugar until mixture comes to the right thickness. It will thicken as it sets and harden rather quickly. If it gets to thick, add a small amount of milk.
Spread on cake.
