Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
Add alternately to creamed mixture with milk.
Blending after each addition.
Mix almonds and coconut, then caramel pieces.
Spread batter evenly in greased 13x9 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 mins.
Cool before cutting.
