Combine onions, bread crumbs, parm cheese and ground meat. Mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Bake at 400 for 15-20 mins or until brown.
Arrange bread in single layer in an ungreased 9x13 pan (there may be extra bread).
Combine cream cheese, mayo, italian seasoning and pepper. Spread over bread. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup mozzarella. Cut meatballs in half and layer meatballs
Combine sauce, water and garlic. Pour over casserole. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Bake uncovered at 350 for 30 minutes or until heated through.

This recipe makes 2 smaller casseroles - perfect for 2. Crust on fresh italian bread was a little tough to cut through, try using sub rolls.
