Put olive oil in a heavy saucepan. Add onion and cook until soft. Stir in sauerkraut and cook for 8 min. Mix in potato, pepper and caraway seed. Cook, uncovered, over low heat for 30 minutes. Add the kielbasa, cover and continue cooking for 30 min longer.
Monitor and adjust water to keep a sauce consistency.
