Preheat oven to 425. Use fork to piece bratwurst and place in saucepan. Pour beer over top and heat almost to boiling. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove brats from saucepan and cool to room temperature.
Mix brown sugar and cayenne. Cut brats into 3 pieces. Wrap each brat with 1 bacon half and secure with toothpick. Coat brats with brown sugar and cayenne mix.
Line 9x13 baking pan with foil and place wire rack in pan. Place wrapped brats on wire rack. Bake until bacon is crispy, about 20 to 30 minutes.
