In medium saucepan melt butter. Dissolve sugar and
cornstarch in water; add vanilla. Stir into melted butter.
Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
Remove from heat. Serve warm over ice cream.
Instructions
Fruit-
Follow basic recipe. Remove from heat. Add 1 cup fresh, frozen, or canned fruit. Drain canned or frozen fruit and substitute drained fruit juice for water. Yield- 1 1/2 cup.
Peanut Butter-
Follow basic recipe. Remove from heat. Stir in 3 tbsp peanut butter until smooth. Yield- 1 cup
Chocolate-
Melt 1 (1.4 oz) sweet milk chocolate bar with butter over low heat, just until melted. Continue as directed in basic recipe, dissolving sugar and cornstarch in water. Yield- 1 cup.
