Rinse peas and place in large pot or Dutch oven. Add all other ingredients to pot except Butter Buds and cook 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Add Butter Buds to each individual serving. Serve with whole grain breads or crackers.
Note- Lintels can be cooked the same way, with 1 tsp cumin and 2 cups diced potatoes in addition to all the other ingredients except peas.
