3 Tbsp saltpork, chopped
|
|
1 lb ground beef
|
|
2 medium potatoes, chopped
|
|
3 medium carrots, chopped
|

1 lg onion, chopped
|
|
1 green pepper, chopped
|
|
2 stalks celery, chopped
|
|
3 beef bullion cubes
|
|
1 can tomatoes
|
|
|
|
1 sm can kidney beans, drained (optional)
|

|

|
|
|

Instructions |

|
In large kettle, brown salt pork. Add ground beef and brown. Add 2 quarts water and 3 bullion cubes. Cover and simmer while you chop vegetables.

Add vegetables, salt, and pepper to taste, and a pinch of dried basil. Cover and cook slowly 3-4 hours.

|
|
Add 1 can tomoatoes and water to desired consistency. Continue cooking 1 hour.
|
|
|
If desired, add 1 can kidney beans before serving.
