in sausepan combine sugar, cornstarch & salt. Gradually stir in milk and cook & stir over medium heat until mixture come to a boil, cook 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat. Stir small amout of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks and return to hot mixture. Cook & stir 2 minutes then remove from heat. Add butter, vanilla & coconut. Pour into a baked pie shell & cool. If you want banana pie omit coconut and layer filling & sliced bananas into crust.
