Cream butter, sugar, and add eggs. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to egg mixture. Add vanilla. Crush 1/2 cup blueberries and add to batter. Fold in rest of blueberries.
Grease and flour muffin tins or use cupcake liners. Fill 2/3 full and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
