In large mixing bowl, mix butter and shortening together. Add sugar gradually. Add the nuts and almond extract and mix. Stir in dry ingredients.
Chill for several hours or overnight.
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 325 degrees. With a teaspoon, scoop out some dough, then roll them into small crescents. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes.
While cookies are still warm, roll them in confectioners sugar. Let cool slightly and dip them in confectioners sugar again.
